ay, Steph hears on the radio that the 10th caller will win tickets to the BRUNO MARS (who's real name is Peter Gene Hernandez, hence the title) concert in Orem the next week. Being the spontaneous girls that we are sometimes, Steph called in and…won the tickets!!! Crazy, right?! Anyway, Steph and I are pretty big Bruno fans so we got pretty excited.

Now it is common knowledge that college students are not the wealthiest of the bunch and of course we were not about to spend $20 each for some t-shirt that everyone else at the concert was wearing so we made our own =) They turned out super fantastic!!! We actually had a few people ask where we found them because they wanted to buy some - the hours of designing totally paid off.

With our authentic t-shirts, we mastered the smokey eye, bought fake eyelashes and cool MJ gloves to show our love to the indescribable Peter. After two hours of opening acts, Bruno finally showed himself and ROCKED THE HOUSE. Love, love, love!

In this case, we had to stay zoomed in pretty tight to get some good shots of the rockstar but overall that weekend we learned some valuable lessons about communication and friendship leading up to our useful advice: Don't forget to zoom out.

A Visit from the Grocer

Well. To continue an interesting start to our summer, a certain Isaac came to visit - special thanks to the airline who contributed. After some Facebook stalking and actual creeping during his stay, I (Trisha) have built a short biography.

Hobbies: cutting uneven lines in the peanut butter bars and losing at Monopoly

For a proper idea of how the weekend started, Thursday included a day of Stephanie cleaning everything she touched and claiming, "Oh my goodness, I look horrible. What if he gets off the plane, sees me, and gets right back on to leave?!" as I drove her to the airport. Granted, he did not do that and we are certainly grateful. Long story short, Steph and Isaac were inseparable all weekend. Crissy kept herself plenty busy with her wide array of friends. And Me? I spent most of my weekend yard sale-ing, napping, and reading. Saturday brought me a fabulous yard sale rug and Stephanie a very prominent sunburn from a day in St. George with Mr. Italy.

Sunday was our very first in the new Singles' Ward. Crissy already had the opportunity to play piano, I learned that I will have the rare occasion of dealing with another Trisha in my life…weird. Stephanie and Isaac had a nice time walking around town before finding the right church building, and we all got teased by the bishop. Stephanie's phone must have been slippery, too…because we haven't seen it since that day. The $50 of internet charges have been attributed to a hobo.

We all thoroughly enjoyed some authentic Italian pasta and had our first encounter with our favorite dessert spot, Krave.

A trip up the canyon proved that Florida weather is definitely different from Utah weather when Isaac (in shorts and flip flops) tried to hide his chattering teeth through the piles of snow topped ledges.

As Tuesday rolled around, we all felt our spell of sorrow as Isaac soared off into the Eastern sky. The next few days brought clouds and even snow to poor ole' Cedar City. Even the town was sad to see him go. Although it seems like forever until we might see him again, our summer adventures shall continue. And, as always, our motto will be: Don't Forget to Zoom Out.

Cleaning, Crepeing and Chicken-ing?

Not too long after moving into our super classy apartment, after the excitement had worn off, we realized how dirty the place actually was. With great excitement (no sarcasm intended) Trisha, Crissy and I started out deep cleaning the overly cluttered fridge. After the contents of both the refrigerator and freezer were completely emptied, reorganized and restocked, the dishes were done and the floors were cleaned, we proceeded to finalize our plans for the evening.

Previous to this wonderful cleaning adventure Trisha ran into Stark and Spencer (who from this moment on will be known as "the boys") who were on their way to Walmart. The plan was for the boys to party it up by making crepes and just hanging out. The boys were kind enough to invite all of us over for this hoppin' occasion.

We arrived fashionably late hoping to dig into some delicious crepes but to our surprise Stark had just barely started making the food. Nothing was going as planned. The pan was too big, none of the crepes were looking right, and of course there were no toppings. We politely ate the crepes and left with our stomachs still growling.

A few hours later our dear friend whom we just met that night, Neil Patrick Harris (as we like to call him) came over with the wrong type of brownie mix!! Being the girls we are, we never neglect chocolate and therefore made the brownies anyway leaving Neil Patrick Harris promising to bring the right kind the next time.

Still not satisfied we set out to make some real food!! At 11 o'clock at night we busted out the chicken and bread crumbs along with some other delicious spices and made oven fried chicken. After about thirty minutes of the chicken's delicious aroma wafting through our noses we were finally able to sit down to watch Miss Congeniality and eat some delicious chicken.

Moral of this story: If you feel like the day did not go as planned, don't forget to zoom out and look at the big picture. In the end our stomachs were satisfied and it was a great day.

Mustang Chasers

The first entry in a blog is even better (or worse) than the first entry in a journal because there's the actual possibility that other people will be reading what you write. Due to Trisha only owning two mitts, I volunteered to write the blog entry and am wishing that you could see this great throw down of Trisha and Stephanie. The latter just pegged Trisha in the leg trying to perfect the "flick of the wrist" which sounded like there'll be a pictures worth of a story in an hour. But if they keep it up there might be another bruise or two to capture by the end of this catching session.

Our inspiration for this blog and title came from an experience a couple weeks ago that involved a bank, a car chase, and a zoomed-in camera.

While waiting for Trisha's check to be deposited Rochelle, Steph, and I noticed a very nice mustang pull into the lane next to us that was driven by a man who very tactfully managed to keep his left ring finger out of sight.

Before we could peg his relationship status, we drove away only to soon be cut off by the very same mustang. Without a seconds hesitation Steph yelled out to follow him and like a fire we caught onto her enthusiasm and the chase was on. Immediately everything we had to say came out five times louder than it needed to be while solely revolving around this car and mysterious man that was speeding much more than Trisha, the driver, was ok with.

After a few minutes of weaving in and out of back roads, back tracking to stay hidden, and popping a curb as to not lose our horse-back rider we finally found him walking up to his house. By this point nothing we said was a complete sentence and was much louder than could be justified but it was almost unanimous to end our adventure here, but I wasn't going to give up so easily. I out-yelled everyone else to have Trisha stop the car and I made a mad dash down the block still yelling too loud to catch this man's attention. Once I intercepted him, I quickly realized I had no idea what to say. To buy time I told him that we weren't creepers (which I doubted he believed) and then with no other line to say I asked him for his number. Despite being totally caught off-guard he managed to inform me of his engagement. Let me take a moment and say how ridiculously unfair it is that women have engagement rings but men do not. But to finish the story, I quickly took a picture next to the guy, bid him a good day, and started to run back to the car only to be stopped by his question (and realization) that we were the girls from the bank. Turns out the checking out wasn't one-sided.

After jumping into the car and looking at the picture, I realized that it was still zoomed in from me trying to take pictures of his car five minutes earlier. Hence the picture, the title, and the great memory. And all because we went to the bank.

Moral of this story: Don't forget to zoom out.
